Bariatric Surgery

Mim Collins Pre-bariatric surgery program

In recent years bariatric surgery is the newest issue concerning weight loss specialists. Bariatric surgery clinics are abundant with follow-up groups, focusing, in large measure, on how to help patients keep from gaining back the weight. Little if any attention is given to the physical, emotional and mental preparation for the surgery. While the internet is flooded with advertisements for the best surgeons, best procedures and best chat rooms, much of focus of these sites is on what happens after the surgery.

Having facilitated classes for the past six years with patients preparing for this surgery, I am convinced that adequate and thorough preparation is the key to sustained success. For this reason, I have developed a program, Weight Loss Surgery Educators, designed specifically for those anticipating this life altering procedure.

Candidates are hopeful. They look forward to making a difference in the way they look, feel and live, but little attention is given to the emotional changes that will take place as a result. One wonders what will take the place of food and the comfort it provides. One wonders what purpose did overeating, and the extra weight serve? One may wonder how they will cope with the requirement to make such a drastic change in lifestyle? And finally one wonders what will be their comfort zone without extra food and extra weight?

All these questions and more are addressed in my program. See Six Steps To Success!
